1/7/2024 0 Comments Windows 10 nag update kb![]() I'll take the time to back it up overnight before installing Debian tomorrow. It's a 0 and I don't have a recent back up (since I wasn't planning on doing the damn upgrade). The claim was that this got rid of the nag window in window for 3 other of. I uninstalled and hid kb3035583 kb29769664 were not installed on this windows 8.1 Toshiba c55-A5126 laptop at the insistence of a friend. A few reboots, and poking around in the device and disk manager I was able to get it to detect the array again, and thankfully nothing was over written. I need help clarifying some points regarding upgrading to windows 10. After the update the array just wasn't detected for some reason. The controller is built into my mobo (possibly lazy soft RAID but I really don't care too much). Not that anyone asked or probably cares.ĮDIT 3: Just got back from playing some PIU at the arcade and I totally understand "RIP my inbox now." For those now asking about the RAID. ![]() Check out r/TronScriptĮDIT 2: Was able to restore my RAID. You can use this to disable (most of?) Windows 10 user tracking. This bricked my Dad's computer last weekend.Īnd many of my friends on FB have been reporting this happening too.ĮDIT: For those of you that have been afflicted by the upgrade, and have concerns about privacy. If you are curious about Linux and want something a bit more out-of-the-box-universal Īnd since a lot of people have suggested. If you're confident going ahead with Linux. Ensure that Windows Update "KB 3035583" is not selected.ĮDIT UP TOP 2: /u/dizzyzane_ says to head to r/TronScript for your tracking disabling needs.ĮDIT UP TOP 3: For those who have had it. Not all advertising is automatically bad mind you but I wouldn't be so quick to claim it's the best feature ever to tell users and keep telling users about the upgrade when it's not also good for them but good for MS financially.EDIT UP TOP: To prevent this from happening. Well we established it's not really free since even if it's a little bit it will come with Candy Crush and such, so it actually sort of is advertising. Having a nice notification about a new version of Windows, let alone IS FREE FOR THEM to upgrade, and is a genuine good upgrade where everyone is very pleased with it, and was and still is deeply tested by a large community of "Insiders", allowing to fix many hard to replicate and pin down critical bugs of the OS, and make it more stable from driver bugs and so on, is a bad in what way? Why? Because, they don't read tech news, they watch TV programs that targets people Windows ads. I have encountered MANY people who didn't know Windows 7 was out, while still running XP, and Windows 7 been out for 2 years, and aggressive advertisement on the web and TV. By then Linux should be caught up enough to play my games and such on and I'm ridding myself of windows on my personal machine for good. I will stick with windows 7 now until it no longer runs the stuff I use. ![]() ![]() This is the kinda sneaky BS that leads people away from a product. The windows update support page only says it 'enables additional capabilities for windows update notifications', with no other information. For SQL Server 2014 You must apply SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1 or a later update. Now, my highly customised installation has been superseded by what looks like a clean installation of Windows. Before you install SQL Server on a computer that is running Windows 10, you must make sure that you fulfill the following minimum requirements, as appropriate for your situation. The 32-bit machine did this at least three times over maybe a three-day period, and each time I complied. This appears to effect windows 7 and 8.1. Beginning the week of 14-20 January (2018), both machines 'said' I needed to restart them because of 'important updates'. I cannot find, and a search does not reveal, KB2990214. I have tried to follow the instructions in the sticky thread to do this but can only find one of the KBs - 3035583 which I have uninstalled. It isn't active yet but when 10 releases you will starting seeing nags to upgrade if you have this update installed. I have a Windows 8.1 laptop which is nagging me to update to Windows 10, which I originally thought I would and have now decided not to do. 'To do this, launch Control Panel, click on Programs > Programs and Features, and in the left side of the screen hit the View installed updates section. I just noticed this updated and looked it up to see what it was. Option 1: One way to get rid of this nag ware is to remove the update that installed it. Theres a new windows update, KB3035583, that just came out that only adds in a sort of advertisement, or nag, for you to upgrade to windows 10.
